Never Underestimate

2) the power of being broke to inspire one to finish an enormous spinning project rather than spend $50 on yarn (yes, I spun up ALL that cotton/silk in an unprecendented binge)
and 3) the power of a dyebath to alleviate a blue mood.
I tied the skeins with string every few inches to create white patches in the blue...hoping for a tweedy effect. Also, I dyed the yarn using acid dyes, expecting the color to take mostly on the silk component of the blend (30%), and hardly at all on the cotton part (70%) which also contributes to the tweediness, and then too, there's the uneven tendency of kettle dying.

Yay, you're back!!
Welcome back! I've looked at that top on and off, but on my little bosom, it would bare me to the waist if I ever leaned forward :)
Welcome back! Love the tweed effect.
Wow! When you get to it, you REALLY get to it!! I love the swatch! Can't wait to see the project knit up!!
You're giving me ideas . . . .
Welcome back! I hope you are feeling better and have gotten through your big tasks.
This yarn looks great! I love the white bits to create a tweedy knit. I'll have to remember your tie-dye technique and try it...
